Souplounge, the Soup Lounge in Ghent

Souplounge, the Soup Lounge in Ghent, is a local favourite. I noted it was often busy as I passed by, so I made my way there one night.

The tables have low padded bar stools, or if the weather is nice, there are metal tables and chairs outside. The Soup Lounge in Ghent is right on the canal at one end of a bridge, so there are lovely views and lots of people watching at this location.

When you’re traveling, it’s great to have healthy food options. At the Soup Lounge in Ghent, there was the choice of four soups, with an apple and dinner rolls as a meal.

I ordered the tomato soup, which was pretty good. I wasn’t thrilled with the toppings (way too many croutons), so I would order the toppings or just the croutons on the side next time.

The rolls, at the end of the day, were past their prime and were quite dried out.

The negatives here might have just been the result of it being the end of the day, so try to get here during normal lunch or dinner hours for best results.

I would try Souplounge again.

If you’re in the mood for ribs, try Amadeus, or if you’d like to pair beer or wine with your meal, try De Stokerij.

Enjoyed May, 2015.
