Starbucks at Downtown Disney is a convenient place for us to meet up with friends before going into Disneyland in Anaheim.
Starbucks at Downtown Disney is the Place to Meet Up
Once I go through security and take the tram in from the parking lot there are people everywhere at Disneyland. I do find it difficult to locate others I’m meeting. I learn that picking a small store like the Starbucks at Downtown Disney is an easy way to narrow down the possibilities of missing someone.
Starbucks “Been There” and “You Are Here” Series Mugs
This Starbucks has organized lines for ordering.
As we move forward, the merchandise tantalizes me. I find some of the Orange County or California mugs from the “You Are Here” or “Been There” Starbucks mug series. I decide against getting them this time since I’ll have to carry them all day. I’ve collected some of the “You Are Here” collection mugs from Walt Disney World. At Christmas my husband gave me two new “Been There” series mugs.
Starbucks sells the Disneyland and California Adventure versions of the new “Been There” mugs only inside the respective parks at the Starbucks locations.
Just beyond the cashiers, there is a crowd of people waiting for their orders. I listen for the baristas to call my name. I’ve had this happen both quickly and slowly, so it depends on what they are making in front of your order how long this will take.
A Magical Chalkboard
There aren’t many spots to relax with a coffee inside. I see some low stools in an area with what appears to be a chalkboard. As I watch the wall, I realize it’s changing. You become a chalk drawing on this “chalkboard,” if you’re in front of it. It is magical. I am delighted with this surprise. I haven’t seen this in any other Starbucks. Have you?
There are places to sit outside. You’ll find tables on a patio and there’s a high curb to perch on. Or you can take your coffee to go, and head for the park.
We move off with our to-go cups and head straight to the park.
Parking Savings & Tips
Paid parking is available for Downtown Disney (follow signs to the area or look for the Simba lot). Currently, Disney charges $14 per 30 minutes of parking. Spend $20 at one of the stores, quick service or kiosks to get a 3-hour parking validation or have a meal at one of the table service restaurants for a 5-hour validation. Do not lose your ticket (lost ticket fee is $56).
Tip: if you’re staying for the day at the theme parks you should park your car in the Toy Story or Mickey and Friends structures for $25, then take the tram in to the area.
These are some other Starbucks we’ve visited.
Here are some other Disney food places and restaurants.
