Drums N Flats in Ajax’s Pickering Village (part of the Town of Ajax) has become a regular drop-in for us.
Quite a few bands have played on stage at Drums N Flats. The Durham Region live music scene continues strong with establishments like Drums N Flats to bring out a variety of bands.
We enjoy the chicken wings here. They’re big and meaty. We’ve been here many times since it opened.
Here at Drums N Flats Ajax Pickering Village, they give you the choice of all Drums (drumsticks), all Flats, or Mixed.
Joe has the dry rub salt and pepper wings (or shares mine).
I order the double-dipped (fried, tossed in one sauce then put on the grill with another sauce). This one is called Honey Boo Boo, and has both jerk seasoning and a honey garlic. The double-dipped cost a little more, but they are great.
The fries are golden, skin on, and lightly seasoned. We like the ranch dip. If you order the sweet potato fries, they come with a delicious chipotle dip.
They’ve recently added on a limited California Sandwiches menu they serve upstairs, while the wings have moved downstairs. Sadly, they don’t offer a meatball sandwich, but those who love the veal sandwich will be happy.
The Drums N Flats Ajax Pickering Village location’s servers are nice, and the beer, from Ajax’s local Falcon Brewing Company, is yummy. They also have a full bar both upstairs and downstairs.
In the Summer, they open up the patio outside.
We both love the Rock n Roll theme wall scenes. Some of the tables have album covers or bands on them, too.
The TVs downstairs, where the bands play, are enormous (wall-size). You’ll often get crowds in here to watch the hockey games.
I’m looking forward to the live music. Joe’s band (5WD) is playing tonight. It’s wonderful to have another place to see bands in the local area. If you like live music, check the schedule at their website or on their Facebook page.
Parking is free in the lot, and street parking is available.
