Many restaurants have paired wines, but it’s not often you can find a wine or beer pairing with your dinner and dessert. Here, at De Stokerij, you can find a wine or beer pairing in Ghent.

This restaurant, in a former distillery, is a local favourite and a delight for a weary traveler. The place is packed.

The staff were incredibly accommodating, spoke English, and had a smaller version of the menu in English available (the main difference was that it did not contain specials and some of the newer dishes).

The menu has symbols showing vegan dishes and alerting you to key allergies (milk and nuts, for example).

Even better, there are beer pairings (and some wine/cocktail pairings) for entrees AND desserts.

The server was able to make recommendations for the chocolate mousse paired with a darker Gouden Carolus beer which I quite enjoyed.

He then went one step further and wrote down a list of other beers which I should try while I was in Belgium. What great service.
Open Wednesday to Sunday.
