The Good and the Bad of Four Points by Sheraton Brussels

As a woman travelling alone, I found the Four Points by Sheraton Brussels hotel neighbourhood scary at night. It’s quite dark, with few bright streetlights, and the block is tagged with graffiti. You may want to call a taxi if you plan to go out.

Once you’re inside the hotel, it’s fine.

Four Points by Sheraton Brussels has security on the elevator which requires a room card to access. The elevators are quite small but work well.

The staff greeted me warmly and provided an upgraded room as I was a loyalty card member, which was very nice.

Two small water bottles are complimentary in the room. Additional beverages in the mini fridge are chargeable.

Two beer glasses and advertising to try Belgian beer were at the fridge and on the key to the room.

There is only one plug available at the bedside. Other plugs are at the desk. I was happy to have a close plug, but you won’t be able to plug in two people’s phones by the bed.

The hotel phone is at the desk. This wasn’t convenient for late night calls from home, as I had to exit the bed and it was cold at the desk.

Although Wi-Fi was free, the Four Points by Sheraton Brussels requires a full sign up with personal details in order to access the Wi-Fi. There is a limit to the data which can be used and I found service slow. Premium upgrades are pushed during the sign-up process.

The TV displayed ‘Special Offers’ for entertainment three times, although I’d highlighted and selected just the TV square on screen.

The Four Points by Sheraton Brussels bathroom amenities were nice, with a real hair dryer hiding in a closet.

bidet and toilet at Four Points by Sheraton Brussels

There was a separate tub/shower, toilet and bidet room which had a separate door from the sink and mirror.

narrow tub with fixtures encroaching on width at Four Points by Sheraton Brussels

The tub was extremely narrow, which may not work for larger adults.

Also, the tub fixture encroached on this narrow space (mounted on the long wall), so during a shower I’d hit it with my knee and the temperature would change.

All in all, this is a good clean room and the hotel would receive a higher rating with some changes:

  • more bedside access to phone and plugs,
  • by remounting the tub fixture,
  • have less selling on the Internet, TV, and fridge,
  • work with the community to lighten the street up and perhaps clean up the graffiti outside.

These are some other places to try in Belgium.

Enjoyed May, 2015.
