What to Order at Sunset Grill in Ajax
There’s an “All-Day Every Day Breakfast Special” featuring 2 eggs any style with bacon or sausage, homefries and toast. You can even add pancakes or french toast if you’d like. On the weekdays, you can choose 3 eggs any style as part of a Weekday Breakfast Special.
Our Recommended Breakfast:
Eggs any style with your choice of white or wheat toast, choice of peameal, regular bacon or sausage, on a plate filled with homefries (chopped up soft potato chunks, grilled) is the way to go. Whether you choose 2 eggs or 3 eggs is up to you.
The Sunset Sandwich is Joe’s favourite. Real peameal (not the artificially round stuff) with cornmeal edges, stacked with egg and real melted cheddar cheese.
I was recently surprised by an Eggs Benedict plate. I substituted bacon for the normal peameal which would come with it, at no extra charge. The Hollandaise Sauce is a true winner. It was the right consistency and has great flavour. Now that I’ve tried the Eggs Benedict with Bacon, this will be a regular switch-out for me. And you can’t beat their homefries.
The Sunset Grill in Ajax do a nice job on omelettes, too. I enjoy a Greek-style omelette with feta cheese, onion and tomato, although they offer a variety to suit most preferences.
There’s a light breakfast which comes with eggs and fruit which is a nice change of pace.
Pancakes are popular here. Lunch foods (sandwiches, burgers) are also available, and there are lunch specials on the front of the menu.
Servers keep the coffee flowing, and drop off handfuls of real cream and milk singles. Fresh-squeezed orange juice is available, too, and we love to start off with a glass of fresh orange juice.
Tips for Sunset Grill
You may see a line-up (expect it) at the Bayly Street location of Sunset Grill in Ajax, but the line goes quickly, so stick around. They’ve planned for lines, and there’s a warm inside glassed-off area which they use all year-round (important in the winter months!).
The cashier is located in the back, by the grill. When you get the bill, turn it over for your tally. You walk it up to the cashier to pay for your meal.
