La Quinta Inn near Old Town San Diego is a cute little inn.
We loved exploring Old Town San Diego, and found this a convenient place to be. It was easy to access the I-5 from here, and a short drive (or moderate walk) to Old Town.
The location is convenient to the freeway to take you to other areas in San Diego, too. If you’re going to explore San Diego, Lonely Planet has a good guide to the area which also includes other places in California.
When we stayed at La Quinta Inn there were a number of Marine families at the hotel for a Marine graduation event happening nearby.
The La Quinta Inn near Old Town San Diego has clean rooms and the right amenities for us. We had WiFi, coffee, a refrigerator and microwave in our room. There are 2 plugs by the bedside to charge devices and another 2 on the desk. There is a bar of soap and shampoo/conditioner combo in the bathroom.
There’s a nice breakfast in the morning with eggs, waffles, oatmeal, toast, pastries, cereal, fruit and juice. No butter or margarine, only “whipped spread,” but they did have pancake syrup, peanut butter and jam for the waffles or toast.
If you’re a foodie, you might enjoy booking a food and walking tour of Old Town with food tastings, drink samples and stories about Old Town San Diego.
The pool is easily accessible in the centre courtyard, with rooms circling the area. There are comfortable chairs nearby. I only wish the pool/spa was open past 9pm, as we were sometimes too late to make it by the deadline.
Parking is $10/night extra and the spots are tight. We had a mid-size car and the passenger had to exit prior to parking.
There is an elevator, so no issue with bags or loading/unloading.
Note: WiFi was terrible in room 108 and we had to change rooms. After we changed rooms, the WiFi was just fine.
These are some other places to try in San Diego.
