The Hyland Family Restaurant in Port Perry has a pretty good breakfast. Our first visit, we stopped in with our friends and their kids. I’ve also been there on my own. It’s a friendly, busy place with great service.
The coffee ($2.25) was decent and the server refilled our coffee whenever we wanted it.
Recently I ordered the 3 Eggs Breakast, with 3 eggs, homefries and toast for $7.95. You can add bacon, ham or sausage for $3.50. The homefries were not well-seasoned, took up much of the plate, and I brought most of them home.
We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. I think I would probably split it. You get three eggs with English muffin halves, peameal bacon and a half platter of potatoes for $12.95.
The Belgian waffle ($7.95 plain, add toppings from $$2.75-$2.95 each) our friend ordered was quite large and looked good.
The French Toast ($7.95) was made how I make it, with regular size slices of bread (not the super-thick kind).
They only appeared to have “pancake syrup” (not maple syrup), so I opted out of waffles, pancakes (3 for $7.95) and French Toast ($7.95).
Hyland Family Restaurant in Port Perry also offers omelettes on the menu, although none of us have tried them yet.
There’s a section at the front of the restaurant with booths. They are comfortable, though people near me were complaining they were cold. The inside section is tables and chairs.
This is a good place when kids are with you as they do offer kid sizes, have durable tables and chairs and offer high chairs.
When you finish your meal and the server leaves you a bill, you take the slip of paper to a cashier stand in the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen. This is where you pay for your meal and add any tip for the server.
Parking lot on site with plenty of free parking.
Here are other places to try while you’re in Port Perry.
