The butchers are willing to customize your order and have been helpful to me in advising on preparation. They also offer freezer packs and cottage packs if you want to buy in bulk.
At Herrington’s butcher shop in Port Perry you will see seasoned pork chops, London Broil, many types of sausage, pre-done kabobs, stuffed chicken breasts (we love the one with feta and cranberries) and marinated or seasoned fish on display behind perfectly cleaned glass. This is in addition to the unadorned meat cuts you find at butcher shops.
Meat Pies & Pre-Made Entrees at a Butcher Shop in Port Perry
Herrington’s also makes a number of ready to cook meals, from chili to frozen shepherd’s pie and fresh or frozen meat pies. We bring home the shepherd’s pie every time we go.
The frozen meat pies are available in 6-packs for the small individual serving pies. Large pies are sold singly. There are a variety of styles and flavours available, from chicken and cranberry, chicken and veggie, to chicken curry, chili, steak and potato, steak and Guinness, beef and onion, turkey and gravy. There must be at least 6 or 7 more.
Every single one we’ve tried has been good, and some are plain amazing. Oh my goodness the chicken gravy one! Joe is a big meat pie fan and I don’t think there’s one he hasn’t liked. So plan to stock up as you won’t find these elsewhere.
Local Products
There are shelves of local and refrigerated locally-sourced condiments and foods.
It’s always fun to look at the cheese in the refrigerator. This time we saw Empire cheese and cheese curds.
We bring a cooler and cooler packs with us when we shop here, and stock up.
