Chicken In The Kitchen specializes in Korean fried chicken, which was a terrific surprise. I wasn’t even aware that Korean food had fried chicken or that it was “a thing.” One of the local Meetup groups put together a date at Chicken In The Kitchen. I had to go to try out the Korean fried chicken. Who knew I’d be tasting Korean fried chicken for the first time at a Toronto restaurant in North York.
What Chicken Should We Order?
The main menu here was simple: mostly chicken, chicken, or chicken (expected with the name!).
We had the garlic chicken. It was so good! The garlic chicken is served with large potato wedges in the basket. The fried chicken had flakes of garlic sprinkled throughout. It was saturated with a sweet garlic sauce that soaks into the moist chicken.
A Good Variety of Korean Fried Chicken Dishes
Others in our group enjoyed nacho fiery chicken (quite spicy), original fried chicken, and chicken fried rice. I want to come back to try the Kim Chi version of the chicken fried rice with the egg on top!
Another popular dish was the golden fried chicken sprinkled with shredded cheese, and accompanied by dipping sauce. We had some excitement when the server sent the dipping sauce for a tumble into one of the men’s laps. It made a terrible mess and took every napkin we had to prevent it from dripping even further off the table.
Even with the accident, everyone seemed happy with their dishes. The dishes were substantial and easy to share.
Restaurant Practicalities
The dining room has no nonsense wood tables with benches, while cute accessories decorate the walls and window sills.
The staff was pleasant and worked with separate checks for our 16 person group.
It’s easily accessible by subway, and there’s a public parking lot in the back.
Here are some other places to try in Toronto.
