One morning, we decided to have breakfast at Lincoln’s Waffle Shop.
I manage to find the most off-beat places, and my husband sometimes questions it, and other times, just goes with the flow.
I love dives, but not ramshackle dives – I mean those places which have CHARACTER, and Lincoln’s is one of those places. We discovered it on Yelp, and I am so grateful. Both the positive and negative reviews indicated that we might have a gem, which we did.
Both of us got the bacon and eggs with waffles, but I was also tempted by the specials list on the wall. The food was good (nothing spectacular, but tasty) and we finished it all! It could only be better with real maple syrup (yes, we’re spoiled and love the real – maple – thing).
The waffles were just the right thickness to have some substance but not be overly heavy.
There was a constant flow of people in and out while we were there. Breakfast at Lincoln’s Waffle Shop is a busy time. Some people eat at the bar, and there are tables for the rest.
This is a cute place, pretty bare bones when it comes to decor, but it works as a diner and the menu is reasonable by Washington, DC standards.
The experience, and the characters eating and working there, added to my overall appreciation and to a memorable travel experience last June.
Here are some other places to try in Washington, DC.
Enjoyed June, 2012.
